Day 18 of the 30 Day Shred

So I am on Day 18 of my 30 Day Shred.  I will admit that I haven't worked out since Monday!  I did spend the entire day in our basement Tuesday cleaning up and clearing out in preparation for a garage sale so I feel that I did get a workout, it just wasn't with Jillian!  Since then I've just been busy and quite honestly tired and sore from cleaning out the basement.  So tomorrow I get back on the wagon to continue my 30 Day Shred.  I do feel much better when I'm doing it and have much more energy.  I've also found myselft eating less and eating healthier.  I know I would have had more energy and felt better the past couple of days if I would have just sucked in up and did the workout!  We all fall off the wagon at times but the important part is to get back on.  I'm slowly learning my lesson. :) 

I am liking the circuit style of working out with Jillian.  So much so I ordered some more DVD's to workout to once I get through the 30 Day Shred.  I feel that I get a good workout in a short amount of time and who wouldn't love that!

Day 3 of the 30 Day Shred

So I have made it through Day 3 of Jillian Michaels 20 minute torture session!  My muscles are feeling it but honestly, overall, my body feels tighter.  I also walked a mile and a half with the family last night.  I pushed a double stroller with 70 lbs worth of kids in it up two pretty steep hills.  I did have my hubby take over the pushing of the stroller about 3/4 of the way.  Since I have been working out everyday I have also noticed that I don't seem to be snacking as much and my taste for sweets isn't as great.  I am trying to eat healthier during this challenge but I promised not to stress myself out over it.  At one point in my life....long, long ago...I was a rower.  I worked out four hours a day and it was no big deal.  At Day 3 of this challenge, I am amazed at what my fitness level was back then.  Oh to dream of the good ol' days before the pregnancy and birth of two kids left you a body that will never exactly be the same again.  Back when you had all the time in the world to workout, stay fit and look good!  Ahhh....

**Update:  I checked this book out online.  It's pretty interesting.  It's all about losing weight by making sure you eat plenty of fiber and drink plenty of water.  If you have ever done Weight Watcher's you know that higher fiber foods have a lower points value so it makes sense.  It challenges you to try to add a little more fiber to each meal and snack and continue to do so until you are regularly getting 40+ grams of fiber per day.  This basically means adding more fruit, veggies, beans, whole grains and nuts to your diet.  Really it's just eating a healthy diet.  May be a good way to start eating healthier and a "dieting" without feeling like you are.  They advise you to work up to 40+ grams slowly so it's not a sudden change that you don't stick with.  I think I will start paying more attention to the amount of fiber I am getting.  People are so incline to just focus on the fat content but doing that can cut out some very healthy foods such as almonds or avocados.

The 30 Day Challenge

On September 1st, some of the money saving blogs I visit started a 30 Day Challenged.  They decided to purchase Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD and do it once a day for 30 days.  It's a 20 minute circuit workout that's suppose to have great results.  Since I already own this great workout video, I had thought about joining the challenge but just couldn't find the motivation.  Then yesterday I saw that my friend had blogged on Another Gray Hair that she was going to jump on the wagon and start the challenge herself.  I looked at the calendar and realized that in less then a month, I will be taking a family trip to the beach.  So all of this combined gave me the motivation I needed.  I did my first 20 minute workout with Jillian yesterday.  I'll admit, it wasn't as easy as I remember it being but I'm determined to do it everyday until I leave for the beach!  I'll let you know how it goes!  If you want to join me in the challenge, please let me know how you're doing!
